If you have any documentation on any of the mixing consoles listed below (or even rare/unlisted consoles), please fill out our Vintage Material Submission Form so that I can add them to this site!  You will be listed on our contributors page if you would like.  There are many of these brands that have been forgotten over the years, and it is our hopes to preserve some of their history here at the Vintage Audio Portal.  Please feel free to contribute ANYTHING regarding vintage audio you may have; it could even be a story, old pictures, technical drawings...whatever!

Pictured below, is a reader submission from Christoph F.  He states:
"This Chilton console was designed as a Broadcast console, and therefore has incredible ergonomics - the channels are spread very far apart, and it is therefore very nice to twist knobs & etc.  The Mic-Preamps are great due to the [included] transformers, and you can drive them quite nicely (since the direct outs are post fader). The EQ is nice, and I use it for enhancing signals going into the DAW."
He even provided a manual for his CM2!  Awesome!!!

This one was sent in my W. Wilson.  He writes, "This is one of two highly custom mix down consoles I was involved in selling and manufacturing for Motown. The competition was fierce between us and QuadEight. The Electrodynes had the first VCA's ever used in audio consoles, Hall effect devices. We did it, QE couldn't."

Ha! I love the screen door material on the top of this unit!
Picture
What a perfect example of a Gates console
Picture
This is a reader submission from Steve L. I love how this vintage Gates is the centerpiece of a much more modern project studio space. Super Cool!
" I bought it on Fleabay out of Portland, Oregon. I took it to the world famous engineer Bob Mayben in Gadsden, Alabama who installed a Marti power supply and some modern electronics and converted it to stereo. I use it in my Dallas studio for friends to do voice over work. All items hooked up to it fire from the board. Two AirCorp 500 PH mic processors and two Electro Voice RE 20 mics are used; exactly the same as we used at ABC Radio Satellite Music Networks in Dallas where I jocked for 13 years. Two Dell XPS III's with Samplitude multitrack software for production and Station Playlist is used for streaming."
This is another contribution by S. Hill.  He writes, "My friend Bob  Ketchum DJ'in at KWHN when he was barely twenty years old. The console is a Gates Executive from the early 1960's. Bob later opened his own recording studio. He was the drummer on Freddy Fenders Gold seller, Wasted Days and Wasted Nights."

"Langevin became a secondary supplier to Western Electric during WWII (hence why the font is the same for both companies at that time). Most people didn't know this. The government required any manufacture supplying goods to the war effort to have a secondary supplier. Carl Langevin went to the head of W.E. and asked to be their secondary supplier since they were winding transformers for them at that time. This was the actual start of Langevin.
Also at one point Electrodyne's parent company, MCA Technologies, acquired Langevin for a period of time when they were making their tube equipment, hence why you have "cross pollinated" parts in these modules. I have 201-A's that are branded both with the E from Electrodyne and the L from Langevin, some of the Electrodyne transformers are in Langevin branded modules and vise versa." - Larry DeVivo
